Welcome back to a new season at Heritage Greens Lawn Bowling Club!
Admittedly, we were a little behind getting started this year because of the weather back in May. That said, the weather allowed our club to extend our open house event by a couple of weeks, taking in several new bowlers during that time! Now that the season in full swing, we recently kicked off our weekly tournaments, as well as several fun events to keep you coming back for more all summer long.
First off, however, we'd like to give a warm welcome to the following new club members: Anne Patterson, Fred Clark, Glenna Smith, Barbara and Dave Thomas, Phyllis O'Callahan, Ron Pletsch, Greta and Peter Crozier, Heather Wakeling, Mary Barter, Joyce Owen, Jacqueline Nolan and Janet Knetchtel! We hope you have lots of fun in the months ahead.
Lawn bowling is truly a sport for all ages, and we try to make room for jitneys, lessons and tournaments whenever possible. Jitneys make an exciting experience, as you get to engage in friendly competition, make new friends and practice your skills along the way. We also have several members who volunteer their time to coach new and potential members, so help is always nearby if you need some pointers.
Our club league competitions are in full swing for the first half of the season, with Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays slotted for Singles, Pairs and Triples tournaments respectively. If you have missed out on them this time around, the tournaments will start up again in late July. We also have Friday Fun Nights – and activities could range from Crazy Bowls (where all the common rules of lawn bowling don't apply) to the infamous Black Cat tournament to popular table games like checkers, euchre and dominoes.
With this flurry of activity, we look forward to another exciting season at Heritage Greens. Just remember that, win or lose, the most important thing is to enjoy yourself. See you on the greens!
