Lawn Bowling Tip Of The Week

IF THE SHOE FITS: CHOOSING THE RIGHT FOOTWEAR

According to the World Bowls Board laws, smooth-soled, heel-less footwear is essential while playing on the green or acting as an Umpire or Marker. If you wear improper shoes, the fine, closely cut surface of the grass can be easily damaged by the natural turning of the foot while delivering the bowl, and even walking on the green.

Here are some things to look for when buying footwear for lawn bowling:
  • The heel area is flat and broad
  • It is an all-in-one coloured shoe for the least possible visual distraction to other bowlers; the recommended colours are white, brown and black
  • The shoes are comfortable, since a game could take at least several hours to complete and there could be more than one game in a da
You can purchase these kinds of shoes at any shoe store for a reasonable price. To get the best quality shoes, though, we recommend you buy them from a store that specializes in lawn bowling equipment.
